Membership
A one-time $27 share purchase gets you a lifetime Peninsula Co-op membership, one of the best investments you can make. As a member of the Co-op you immediately begin sharing in the profits of the company. Every time you use your Co-op member number your purchases are recorded. We total your purchases annually and, based on the Co-op’s profits, a percentage of your purchases is added to your share account. A portion of this amount is paid out to you each year as your member rebate. The remainder is retained temporarily by the Co-op to help us grow the business. The more you purchase, the more you receive in equity.
In 2009 Co-op members received a 5% rebate on their Co-op Food Centre purchases and a 5.3% rebate on their Co-op fuel purchases, which is like paying 6.0 cents a litre less for your gas. Plus, there are many other benefits to becoming a Peninsula Co-op member.
Becoming a member is easy. Simply print out the Peninsula Co-op Membership Application form, complete it and send it to us along with payment of $27. You can mail in your application or apply in person at the Customer Service desk of our Food Centre in Saanichton, or at any Co-op or Save-On Gas location. The mailing address is: Peninsula Co-op, 1 - 2132 Keating X Road, Saanichton BC V8M 2A6.
Business Membership
Many business owners find a Peninsula Co-op membership an excellent way of reducing the cost of doing business. The same one-time investment of $27 gets you a lifetime business membership. Small or large businesses may be able to take advantage of our Commercial Services Card offerings. You get all the benefits of membership, plus some further opportunities to save. Please contact our Commercial Petroleum Manager at, 250-652-3212 for more information.
Not For-Profit Organization Membership
Several community organizations find a Peninsula Co-op membership an excellent and easy way to fundraise. A representative from your organization takes out a membership in the name of the organization for a one-time investment of $27. The membership number is then shared with the members of your organization and they are encouraged to use it whenever they make purchases from Peninsula Co-op or Save-On Gas. At the end of the year, your organization will earn a rebate, based on the amount of purchases from the Co-op that your members have made throughout the year.
Transferring or Withdrawing a Membership
There are a number of reasons why members may wish to withdraw or transfer their membership. These might include, for example, moving out of the Co-op's main trading area, turning age 71 or a member may have passed away.
Please print and complete the relevant form and attach all requested documentation to apply for the withdrawal or transfer of membership. The Co-op Board of Directors will review applications at their monthly meeting.
Please complete the Application for Transfer of Equity if you wish to transfer a membership to another person.
Please complete the Application for Withdrawal of Equity if you wish to terminate a membership.
