Welcome to Peninsula Co-op
Peninsula Co-op is a dynamic Vancouver Island based co-operative owned and guided by its members, with grocery and petroleum as its core business and customer service as its competitive advantage. We believe in profitability, which will enable growth to meet our members’ needs, while we uphold high ethical standards, support the communities where we do business, and share our profits and success with our member / owners.
We invite you to explore this website to learn more about the benefits of becoming a Co-op member, where we are located and the products and services that we offer.
6.0 CENT/LITRE REBATE FOR PENINSULA CO-OP MEMBERS
This year we had fabulous news for our members, a six cent per litre rebate on petroleum and home heating purchases made from April 2, 2006 to March 31, 2007. Members also received a 3% rebate on gas purchases from participating independent Save-On Gas centres and for their cardlock purchases. The food centre rebate remained at 5% for this time frame.
Over 26,000 membership rebates were mailed out this year and arrived in mailboxes starting the first week of December.

OFFICIAL COMMUNITY PLAN (OCP) REVIEW -
WEST SAANICH AND KEATING AREA
Peninsula Co-op owns approximately 8 acres of land on West Saanich Road between Keating and Kersey Road.
From as early as 1972 this area was designated for future growth.
This land is not Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR).
It was only after our purchase (1994), and only through the council of the day at the time of the last OCP review, that the designation in the OCP changed from growth to rural.
In the Spring of 2008, Peninsula Co-op requested the Central Saanich council to review the OCP as it relates to this area.
In a narrow vote of 4 to 3 the council decided not to review the OCP as it relates to this area.
We are asking that you sign the petition to confirm that there is a broad support for the OCP review of the longer term planning for future growth and development of our property in the West Saanich/Keating area which will include a new food store.

Petitions are located at Keating Gas Centre, Brentwood Gas Centre, Pat Bay Gas Centre, Home Heating and at the Co-op Food Centre.
We thank you for your support.
PENINSULA CO-OP IS PROUD TO ONCE AGAIN PROVIDE SPONSORSHIP TO TOUR DE ROCK 2008
The Canadian Cancer Society’s Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock is a partnership between the Cancer Society and police officers, RCMP and local military police from across British Columbia. Each fall, Canadian law enforcement personnel cycle a pre-designated route in their region, raising funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research and programs that support kids with cancer, such as Camp Goodtimes. In BC there are four Cops for Cancer tours. Peninsula Co-op was a proud sponsor of the 2007 Tour de Rock, and we’re thrilled to partner with the Canadian Cancer Society again for 2008!
In September 2007 fifteen Co-op employees had their heads shaved to raise money for the Tour, providing almost $5,000 to aid children suffering with childhood cancer. With the addition of many other successful fundraising events and the partnership of Co-ops from one end of the island to the other, a grand total of almost $50,000 was donated when the riders returned home in October!
A fundraising committee has been formed and events have been underway to ensure that our 2008 contribution will be even bigger and better. On July 12th we held a 12 hour bike-a-thon, garage sale and bbq that raised over $1000, with our controller, Ron Heal spending the full 12 hours on a stationery bicycle raising money for childhood cancer research.
Watch for information on more upcoming fundraisers on the Food Centre bulletin board, or here on our website.
